Final Mission

Hello!!

As you may guess by the title of this post this journey has come to an end, and I have to admit I feel a little bit happy about it, because this has been crazy!!

For this final mission I had to create a presentation showing some of the tasks that we have done and talking about what each topic has given us. For this presentation I have used Capzels. This tool gives you the chance to create a timeline with the pictures you like and you can add audio too. It is really easy to use, and I think that for a subject like history can be really engaging for students.

Here is my Capzels presentation:

As you have seen in the presentation, my favorite tool is Aurasma. I have never had the chance of working with this tool, in fact in this class was the first time that I heard of it.

At the beginning it was hard to figure out how it worked, but once I got it, it was amazing!! It is a really usefull tool for students and also for teachers, because you can use it to teach any topic in a really fun way.

This final task helped me realize the importance of ICTs in the class and through this journey I have learnt a lot and it helped me to improve my ICT skills what, nowadays, it's really important because our students know a lot about it and we should be able to keep up to date with them; for that I want to thank my teacher Mª Jesús.

So this is all friends, thank you for sharing this crazy journey with me!

Create a rubricto assess e-projects

Hello!!

Here I am again all by myself, teamwork is over :( but that doesn't mean we are done with new ICT challenges.

Today I am going to talk to you about my newest challenge: Creating a rubric to assess e-projects.

For this assigment I had to create a rubric to evaluate my CLIL e-project, to create it I have decided to use a tool called Quick rubric. I've never heard of this tool, but after using it I 've seen how easy it is.
It is an online tool to create anykind of rubric you want, you just have to create an account and start working! It's really simple, the template is already there, you just have to fill the boxes with the information you want, you can add as many columns and rows as you like.

Also you can give your rubric a title and a brief description to clarify what your rubric is about. With Quick rubric you can also adapt your score rating to your own criteria. When you are finished, you just have to save it and the web tool will send you and email, to the email adress you provided when making the accunt, with an URL to share your rubric.

The thing that I really liked about this toll is that whenever you want to change your rubric, you can do it easily just click on edit rubric and make all the changes that you want.

Here you can see my rubric:

Finally I just want to add, that while doing this assignment I have realized how important rubrics are when you are evaluating someone's work. For me, as a current student and future teacher, rubrics help students understand why they have got the grade they did. I wish that when I was a student, more teachers have used rubrics when assessing some of my work, it would have saved me a lot of trouble!

Thanks for reading, I will be back with more challenges!

Marina :)

World book day

Hello bloggers!!

As you know last April 23 we celebrated the World Book day, and this meant that I had to face a new challenge.

This new challenge was about our favourite book and what type of readers we are. But it wasn't that easy, to tell you about that we had to use the app called Aurasma.
Maybe you remember one of my last posts where I talked about this app, because my team and I used to for our E-project. If you don't remember here is the presentation qe did to explain how you can use it:

But before creating my aura, I've created a poster about my favourite book. For that I used a tool called Canva. I've never used this tool before, but y friend Raquel told me about it. Canva is a very usefull tool to create posters, it is really easy to use and you can upload your own images to create the poster, the main disadvantage that I've found is that there are a lot of features that are not free to use.

After doing the poster, I used Movie Maker to make the video for my aura. Movie Maker is a great tool to create your own videos, you can use your own pictures, and record your voice too; it is very intuitive and easy to use. This is my video in case you are not able to use Aurasma:

When I finished my poster and my video, I was ready to create my aura! in order to see it you just have to download the app on your phone and follow my channel: mgoizum.

My classmates have also share their Auras in Pinterest, follow the board "A wall of books" if you want to see them!

I hope you like it!!

Video challenge

Hello!!

Here is our last challenge as a team!

This time, MariaLauraSaraTeresaGuillermo and me had to create a video challenge for our students.

If you can remember these past post have been all related to the topic of ANIMALS, we have created an infographic, a collaborative slideshow, and now we had to create a video challenge.

First we had to plan our video, and to do that we have used Storyboard That, a tool that helps you create a comic. In this comic there is a brief explanation of the different scenes of our video challenge, it is a really easy tool to use and very fun too, for students, and teachers! here is our Storyboard:

Here is the link for you too: https://www.storyboardthat.com/storyboards/mgoizum/video-challenge--animals

After that we had to create our video, and in order to do that we used Sony Vegas Pro, a great tool that gave us the opportunity to create, design, modify any video to make it more attractive. You can customize any feature and detail related to the video. The main disadvantage could be that it is not a free online tool, but the results are just fantastic, but our partner Guillermo had an account so we didn't had problems using it.
Here you can see our great video challenge:

Furthermore, we published this entry on the ESL Times blog, so we inmidiately became reporters and received an award!

Creating a collaborative slideshow that supports learners

Hello again bloggers!!

Here we are again with a new challenge: Creating a collaborative slideshow that supports our learners.

As you know, we are working in teams, so my peers SaraTeresa, LauraMariaGuillermo and me. decided to create a slideshow about How to use Aurasma with Google Slides. We agree on using this toll because it is very similar to Power point, so it was easy and quick to use.

With this tool you can create slideshows easily, adding pictures, videos or animations to make them more engaging.
The aim of this presentation was to help our learners to understand how to use the app Aurasma, we added video tutorials, as well as step by step instructions to make it easier to understand.

I am really happy to tell you that our slideshow is going to be part of a collaborative project called Aportics, and for our collaboration the gave us and award too! :)

Create an Infoedugraphic

Hello blogger friends!

Today I am going to tell you about a new challenge: creating an InfoEduGraphic.

To design this new digital artifact we had to work in groups. Working in groups gave us the chance of sharing ideas, see different points of view and we can also learn from each other.

The groups were created according to the topic we have chosen to do our CLIL e-Project, so I was allocated with five of my classmates whose topic was also ANIMALS. Here are the blogs and Twitter accounts of my peers:

Teresa Martin

Twitter
Guillermo Lagarejos

Sara Rodríguez

María Collado

Laura Pérez

Once we got together, it was time to think about creating an Infographic. At first, we did not know what that was, so we had to figure it out; we found out that Infographics are visual representations of information (knowledge, contents…). They have a blog where we had to send it once we finished it, so they could publish it too.

We decided to crate an Infographic about the five groups of vertebrate animals, where children will learn the characteristics of each group and also they will learn to use Aurasma, an app that gives you the chance to work with augmented reality something really engaging for them.
When design our Infographic we used Piktochart, a great tool that allows us to create engaging Infographics to present projects, activities, and other kind of visual presentations. With this amazing tool we could customize our Infographic as we liked, and also we had the chance to upload our own images or videos. This helped us a lot, because as I have said at the beginning, our students will be using Aurasma in our Infographic and we could upload our images for our students to see what was hidden behing the pictures we uploaded.
Here you can see our Infographic:

We also had the chance to participate in a nationwide collaborative project thanks to InfoEduGraphics. As I've said at the begining we had to send our infographic to infoEDUgrafías so they could publish it in their blog, and for that they gave us an award for our participation!!

Thanks for reading

Our live Chocotalk!

Hello!!!

I am really excited to talk to you about a live event that my peers carried out last Thursday.
As I told you in my last post I had to do an E-project, and I decided to do it about animals, after doing the project, I got together with some classmates that had chosen the same topic as me.

Now we had to work in teams and do several tasks, one if them was to do a live chocotalk. We assigned different roles for the members of the team, Guillermo is our speaker, Teresa and Sara are our community managers, and Laura, María and I are the content curators. Our role consisted on keeping record of how the Chocotalk was going.

Here you can see the work our community managers did during the live event. To show you their work I used a tool called Storify, it is an online tool really easy to use where you can "make the web tell a story".

And now I am going to tell you about the main ideas treated in our live event.

-          Date: 7th of April 2016.
-          Time: 19:00h Spanish time.
-          Moderator: Laura Gonzalez
-          Topics: 1. Advantages and disadvantages of CLIL.
              2. Social and emotional benefits of CLIL.
              3. ICT in the classroom.
              4. E-projects.
-          19:00h Chocotalk starts: Each speaker presents himself and his team members.
1.       Topic 1: Advantages and disadvantages of CLIL.
·         Main advantage: Crosscurricular link gives better results in students learning process.
·         Neus: Children work grammar in a more practical way.
·         Rubén: CLIL is difficult to carry out in High schools because there is one teacher per subject.
·         Celia & Guillermo: If everyone works together CLIL can be carried out in High schools too.
·         Álvaro: ICTs helps with communication and collaborative work, what can help implement CLIL in high schools.
·         Patricia & Rubén: Agree that ICTs is the best way to work with CLIL in High schools.
·         Guillermo: Talks about CLIL drawbacks; some experts say that working in a different language may damage the level of the children’s mother tongue.
·         Inma: there might be difficulties at the beginning when children are learning, but with the teacher’s support, children will be fine.
2.       Topic 2: Social and emotional benefits of CLIL.
·         Krashen’s theory.
·         Take into account children’s needs, interests, age, attitude, and motivation.
·         Not only children should be motivated when learning, also teachers should be motivated when teaching.
·         We are living in a digital society what means that technology is catching our students’ attention and we need to use that in our advantage in the class.
·         According to Krashen’s theory children must be exposed to 0 anxiety; Guillermo thinks that it’s good that children feel a little anxiety when performing in the class.
·         Emotions are really important in children’s development that is why they should be involved through all the activities children do.
3.       Topic 3: ICT in the classroom.
·         Álvaro: ICTs are important for children and also for teachers. The important thing it is the activity itself, and the final result, not the tool our students are going to use.
·         Neus: Tools are also important. As teachers we need to know what our students can use to do what we ask them to do. We need to select the best tool to meet our children’s needs.
·         Celia: As teacher we need to adapt the methodology we use to our students, for example using videogames to teach them some contents might have benefits in the class.
·         Patricia: ICTs also help teachers when selecting materials. Teachers don’t always have time to select the best materials for their students, but with ICTs teachers can communicate with other teachers making this selection easier for them.
·         Inma: answers to a twitter question. ICTs are not time consuming as people think; it is the opposite, children can work at their own path and the teacher has time to work with slow learners.
4.       E-projects.
·         Each team presented its project.
·         All of the projects are based on CLIL and all work with ICTs.
·         Inma encourages teachers to implement CLIL in their classrooms.
·         Guillermo promotes his blog.

Here is my award for collaborating in this live Chocotalk:

My CLIL E-project

Hi!!!
After evaluating someone's eproject, now it was my turn, I had to make my own eproject!!
My first choice was to do an eproject about the plants, but I couldn't go through with it because I didn't really like my final result, so I changed it and I did one about THE ANIMALS! Here is the link where you can see my prototype: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ocifXINKVZ0sHZod7jCt7B6Wd4fhCLJvzS2Ihdl7V_0/edit?usp=sharing
In this document is where I explain my project, the learning outcomes, the vocasbulary children will need to learn, and also the tasks they will do.
It is intended for 3rd Grade, and all the activities are related with ICT. Children will use some online tools to carry out the activities they are asked to do in the project. It was hard for me to decide what tools could I use with the students, because they are quite young, but explaining to them how the toll works and showing them examples of what they need to do they will get it quite fast.
When I finished my prototype, I had to make a video, or animation clip in this case, where I had to show my project and try to engage other teachers on doing it with me.
The tool I decided to use to create my animation clip is called Powtoon. It is my first time using it, so at the beginnign it was quite hard to understand how it worked. But at the end I was able to figure out how to create and awesome and engaging clip!! With this toll it is not just about making a video, you can add music, your voice, pictures, or gifts; it is really fun and engaging!!
Here is the link where you can see my clip: https://www.powtoon.com/online-presentation/gomD7TWRurc/?mode=movie#/
Hope you like it!

E-design evaluation

Hello again!
I know it's been a while since my last post, but this new challenge hasn't been easy for me, let me explain it to you.

For this new challenge  I had to choose an Eproject and evaluate it according to an especific rubris, there were so many projects where I could choose from, but finally I decided to choose one about Arts and Crafts, which is: https://sites.google.com/site/geniusesoftherenaissance
I chose it because I really like the content and how it works it with the students. The content and the tasks in this blog are related with the topic and also very well suited for children. It is well organized and clear for them, and the multimedia used in it is really visual and engaging for the students.

However, there are somethings that form my point of view need a little improvement, such as the size of the letter used, that is a little small for the students; the Lack of visual support in some of the tasks explained to the students, and also one of the activities is explained througha mindmap that is hard to follow and the students will not be able to understand what they need to do.

For you to see my evaluation in a more clear way, I have made a presentation with prezi, it is the first time I use this tool and I really liked it, it is easy to use and really engaging and visual.

Here you can see my presentation:

Hope you like it!!!

Let's talk about pinterest!

Hi!!

Today I am going to talk about Pinterest.
Pinterest is a social network where you can find creative ideas for school, to decorate your house or whatever you want :)
This tool allows you to share your ideas and also look at what others have shared.

Here are some links that I think will be interesting for you:

1. "The science penguin": This blog gives you ten ideas to teach science vocabulary. When teaching Sciences, one of my worries is the vocabulary children need to learn about the topic. Here you can find different ways to teach the vocabulary, in differents ways that children will enjoy.

2. "Eating the parts of the plants": sometimes worksheets (fichas) can be fun!! Here is a fun and delicious way to teach your students the parts of the plantsand at the same time you can encourage them to eat healthier!

3. "World map": here are some easy and fun activities to work with the continents.

4. "CLIL Geography lesson plan": I found this blog where it explains a cool geography lesson to work with 6th Graders, but can be adapted to younger students.

5. "Food pyramid": in this web page there are different activities to work the food pyramid with the students.

6. "Number line secret code": this math activity is really fun for students. They will have to discover the secret message by doing math operations.

I have started to create my own board too, where I will be posting more CLIL activities that might be helpful for you, here it is:

And finally, you can have a look at the board that me and my peers are creating with all the different ideas we have found!

Enjoy!

Creative Common Licence

Hello everyone!

Here you can read all about the creative common licence I use in my blog, the logo is at the footpage and in tyhe link below you can see more details about what this licence allows you to do.

What does your licence allow others to do with your CLIL e-materials?

My licence is called “Attribution-NonComercial-ShareAlike4.0International”. With this type of licence, people can share my work and mosify it but always giving attribution to my work. Although people can shareit, they cannot use it for commercial purposes. As I have said at the beginning, people may modify my work but htey must distribute their contributions under the same licence as the original.

What are goog ways to motivate our students to use Creative Commons material and attribute properly?

As a teacher you should be able to share different resources and materials to contrast and compare different ideas about different ways of teacheng. With this, different teachers will be able to use your work and as well you sill be able to use theirs, this interaction requires a commitment between the people that are sharing their work.

As I have said, you will be sharing your work and using someone else’s work too, and for that we must be really respectful with each other’s work andcontribution’s, and at the same time we must teach our students that everything they read on the internet has an owner, this means that if they are going to use that information they must give credit to its owner.

As a teacher we have to encourage our students to give recognition to someone else’s work, so every time they use someone else’s information, they should mention the source where they found it.

Here is the link to my licence where you can read more about it:

My PLE and PLN

Hi!!
Here is my first struggle with ICTs. We had to do a mind map showing our PLE (personal learning environment) and our PLN (personal learning network) about CLIL.
I started to hear about CLIL when I began the master in Bilingual Education for Primary Schools in th Rey Juan Carlos University in Vicálvaro. During my time at Complutense University, while getting my degree as a Pre-primary teacher, I’ve never heard or talk about this approach.
The main idea I’ve got from this approach is that a teacher uses the second language as a means to transmit content; well, students and teachers use English in a meaningful way, so the children learn the language by using it in real situations, when they are learning it.
I just know a little bit about this educational approach, and I think it’s great. The only problem I see is that it’s kind of difficult to work with this approach in the schools nowadays. Maybe I am wrong about what I’ve just said because I didn’t had the chance to use it in a class, but from my little experience about what I’ve seen during my practicum it’s really hard to do.

To do the diagram of my CLIL learning I’ve used Novamind, and here came the big problem. At first I had problems while doing it using this tool, and I thought about giving up because I couldn't figure out how to use this tool and was starting to get mad, but at the end one of my peers tought me how to use, and when I figured it out it became really easy to do the mind map. So here is the link where you can see it:

Have a look at the full mindmap in this link: https://www.novamind.com/cloud/doc/8369

Here is an explanation of the different tolls that appear in my mind map:
To organize information:
·         Dropbox: I use this tool to keep information and share it.
·         Google Drive: it has the same main function as Dropbox that is to keep information, buand also it allows sharing a project with a group of people and being able to modify it in real time.
To share and communicate:
·         Twitter, Facebook and Blogger: I often use them to share information and thoughts about CLIL, and I also have the chance to see the opinions and ideas of other people as well.
·         Gmail: I use it to share my projects, tasks, lessons… and communicate with other people.
·         WhatsApp and Skype: they are very useful to communicate immediately.
·         URJC: the class forum allows sharing projects or tasks about CLIL with our classmates.
To look for information:
·         Google Chrome: both of them are useful to find information about CLIL, to solve doubts related with that, to search pictures or resources linked with it…
·         Pinterest: I use this tool to look for information and ideas for CLIL lessons.
To create new things:
·         StoryJumper: it’s an easy tool to create stories anything everything.
·         Paint: it’s the most common tool used to create simple pictures
·         Movie Maker: to create videos.
·         Microsoft Office: I use it to create the activities or lessons with CLIL methodology.
·         NovaMind: I started using it for this assignment, and I’ve discover it was very helpful.
·         Picassa: I use this tool to create collages that can be useful in some CLIL lessons.

My PLN is connected to my PLE as you can see in my mind map.

Learning by twittering

Hello everyone!

Let's talk about Twitter! Well, Twitter is a social network where you can write your thoughts, or share your opinion in 140 words; these messages are called tweets.

I used to have a Twitter account just to be informed about what happenned around the world, and now I've discover that you can learn a lot from it!

There so many accounts that give a lot of information about different educational topics. You can be updated with the last educational methodologies, how to create activities for your lessons, and also you can share what you know about education.

With Twitter I am learning a lot of things about CLIL, an educational approach that I just started to know and it's great! Here is the link to my first tweet about CLIL:

Here is my twitter account @GoizuetaMarina, you can follow me to read what I share!

3,2,1...Introduction

Hello bloggers!

I want to share with you my first adventure with ICTs!

I had to do something to present myself to my classmates, but I had no idea about which tools I could use.

At first, I thought of using a tool called Animoto. It is an easy tool to use if you want to make short videos. You have to select the pictures you want for your video, then how you want them to appear and finally you can add a song. But I couldn't use it because I hadn't the premium version of Animoto.

After my failure with Animoto, My doubts started again, What tool could I use? After talking to some of my classmates, I decided to try a tool called Storyjumper. At the beginning I had no idea of how it worked, but when I figured it out it was really easy and fun to use.
I realize that with Storyjumper I could make a book about me!!

As I've said, with Storyjumper you can create a book about whatever you want. You have to choose what pictures you want for your book, write the text that you want and that’s all!!

Here is my story, I hope you like it! ;)
